Reviews:
This book tells the fascinating story behind the first translation of the Bible into Tamil. The purpose of this book is to help present generations of Christians appreciate and value "the living and enduring Word of God" (1 peter 1:23), hoe God has faithfully preserved His Word and made it available and accessible to us. -- Bishop Emeritus Dr Robert Solomon (The Methodist Church in Singapore) --
Dr Albert Selwyn's efforts to trace the history of the Tamil Bible are commendable. He has made sincere attempts to record the progress of the early missionaries' work, which many of our present generation Tamil Christians are not aware of. Many of these names we would not even have heard of. There is a lot of useful information on the different phases and years of hard work done by those servants of God. The pictures of missionaries, the manuscripts and other documents do give is some valuable proof of the early attempts to bring the Bible to the Tamil Christians. I would like to encourage the Tamil Christian population to read this book. -- Rev R Prabhu (President,Emmanuel Tamil Annual Conference, Methodist Church in Singapore) --
This book reveals the testimonies of Bartholomew Ziegenbalg and other fathers of the Tamil Bible. Let the testimonies of these men remind us to give thanks for the people who continue to work and sacrifice to translate the Word of God into a language that can be understood. -- Ezekiel Tan (General Secretary, The Bible Society of Singapore) --
